Our Take on Weber Firestarter Cubes
Charcoal grilling is a favorite among many people but getting the coals lit to begin heating up the grill can sometimes be a challenge. When we found the Weber Firestarter Cubes it was almost like all our charcoal grilling prayers had been answered and this would be the solution to quickly lighting and heating the grill for cooking. These cubes come 24 to a box – 4 sheets of 6 connected cubes – and is a good value when you consider three to four cubes will light most backyard charcoal grills.
When we began using this product, the first challenge was getting the cubes out of the packaging for use. Each sheet of cubes comes in a plastic tray with tin foil type material over the top – like other reviewers, we found that some of the cubes stuck together. This is because there does not seem to be any scoring or perforation between the cubes to aid in breaking off the few that were needed to start the grill. It is not the worst thing in the world, but it can be a bit annoying if you are in a rush.
After placing the cubes in with the charcoal the rest of the process was simple. We lit the cubes, closed the grill’s lid and within minutes we had a full charcoal fire ready to cook with. The cubes lit rather quickly and there was no chemical odor or additional smoke from using the cubes. Since the formula Weber Firestarter uses is non-toxic, there was no fear of contamination with the food we cooked. Overall these firestarter cubes are a great addition at any grill masters grilling toolkit.
