Tips for Throwing the Party of the Season
Believe it or not, the regular season for football is over and the playoffs have started. As the season comes to a close, many diehard football fans start thinking about what they want to do for their big Super Bowl party. With the biggest game of the season coming up quick, it is time to start planning what can be done to throw the best party, one that guests will be talking about for the rest of the year. Here are some party tips to help you pull together a gathering that rivals the big game!
Have Drinks for Everyone
One of the most important parts of any Super Bowl party is all the foods we have come to know and love. But, don’t you need something to wash down all those great dishes with? Light beer is usually a staple at any football party, but not everyone is a big fan of these kinds of beverages. Make sure you consider you audience when choosing drinks – are they craft beer lovers? Cocktail sippers? Or do you have a lot of non-alcohol drinkers coming over? Make sure you provide drinks that everyone will enjoy.
Have a Great Viewing Set-Up
There is nothing worse than watching the big game on a small, static, non-impressive TV. Although having a top-of-the-line, high definition, big TV is every sports lover’s dream, it is not always a possibility. Having the best TV is not a requirement, but having a good TV with a clear, large enough picture is key. Also, make sure you have a back-up plan should your set-up crap out before or during the game. Test an old TV before the party and have it on the ready in case you need to switch systems at some point. You may also consider renting a TV, as there are plenty of companies offering this service for a very reasonable fee.
Keep the Kids Entertained
Although not having any young children at the party may be ideal, it is sometimes just not possible. There is nothing worse than being interrupted during a big play, so if kids are part of your party equation, think of creative ways to keep them entertained. Consider setting up a spare room in the house with a TV and movies for them to watch as well as games they can play together. This will keep the kids playing and happy and keep their parents locked into the game throughout the whole night. You may even be able to bribe your teenager to keep them out of your hair during the game!
Make Sure Everyone Gets Home Safely
If you are planning on having alcohol at your party, make sure you have a plan to get everyone home safely. Consider allowing guests to spend the night or having a list of cab services for guests to use as a safe ride home after the party. Also, encourage guests who are traveling together to designate a driver who will not drink during the party and be responsible for getting everyone home safely. Part of being a good host is making sure everyone has a good time and makes it home safely at the end of the night.
