Tips for Making the Most Out of Your Spring Cleaning
Warmer weather and sunny days are almost here! It is around this time that many people begin thinking about deep cleaning and organizing their homes – floors, furniture, walls and appliances are all on the cleaning list. Many of these areas need specific attention to make sure they are truly clean and able to stay that way. Here are some tips for cleaning your home when the weather gets a little warmer.
Cleaning Stainless Steel
Recently, more and more people have been purchasing stainless steel appliances. Problem is, this material can be hard to get clean and keep clean being that is shows finger print and other markings very easily. To help get these surfaces clean, try using a light mist of a wax-based aerosol spray and wipe away with a clean, lint-free cloth. It is also important to stay away from products that contain oils or bleach as they will negatively affect the surfaces look.
Removing Dirt and Marks from Painted Walls
Marks and dirt on walls can make any home look dingy even if has just been cleaned, and fear of removing the paint can leave them visible for years. First, try using warm water and a clean cloth or sponge to remove simple marks and dirt from the walls. For really tough dirt spots, apply dishwashing liquid to the cloth or sponge and then directly to the stain. Keep in mind, if stronger cleaning products are needed, there is a good possibility the solvents in the product will remove some of the wall’s paint.
Caring for Tiled Surfaces
Bathroom and kitchen tiles are another area of the home that can look dirty or dingy even if they have just been cleaned or mopped. Try using a cleaner that advertises “neutral pH” on its label. This will help remove soap scum and dirt in between tiles. You can also create homemade tile cleaning products by combining ½ cup of baking soda with 2 gallons of water. Apply this liquid with a mop or sponge and watch that bathroom or kitchen floor sparkle!
Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to truly deep clean and organize your home. Aside from using the right products on the right surfaces to get the best possible clean, taking the time to clean the house from start to finish will also instill a sense of accomplishment. Not to mention, sitting back and admiring a beautifully clean home can be an amazing feeling!
