Summer is the time to get into the great outdoors. It is also an excellent time to make some extra cash, whether you are in high school, college, or an adult. Here are some ways to make extra money when the weather is nice. Many of these do not require quitting a day job. You may earn enough to buy some new summer clothes or go on a trip.
Step 1: Clean houses or mow lawns for friends and neighbors. You might need to buy the equipment but with a large client base, this may be worth the cash.
Step 2: Gather items you no longer need and have a garage sale or online. This is a great way to enjoy the summer sun while trimming the home inventory and making some money.
Step 3: Start a car washing or detailing business. Once the business gets rolling, you will recoup the money spent on cleaning supplies.
Step 4: Find summer work at the mall that offers a flexible schedule and an employee discount.
Step 5: Become a paper delivery person. This requires either a bike or a reliable automobile and driver license. You will work about three or four hours daily in the early morning before most office jobs begin.
Step 6: Pet sit or be a dog walker. Put flyers in local churches, day care centers, supermarkets, and convenience stores and advertise to neighbors and friends.
Step 7: Take lifeguard certification classes and after becoming certified, apply for work as a lifeguard. If you are in good health and an excellent swimmer, this job may be for you.
Step 8: Work as a camp counselor at a sleep away or day camp. CampResource is a Web site that makes it easy to find local camps.
Step 9: Establish a babysitting service. This job can be scheduled around other part-time work. Take children to the park or beach, if permitted by parents, to give them some fresh air.
