A fish aquarium makes an attractive addition to the home. Watching fish swim, play, and feed can be very calming and relaxing. Salt water fish are particularly enjoyable to watch because they come in unique shapes and bright exotic colors. A salt water aquarium requires special care in order to keep fish healthy and bright.
You will need:
• Aquarium siphon or vacuum
• Aquarium scraper or scrubber
Step 1: Unplug the equipment from the aquarium and remove all of it from the tank. Place it in a safe location so it will not get broken.
Step 2: Use the aquarium scraper or scrubber to slowly wipe the interior glass of the aquarium. Work carefully so you do not scare or touch the fish.
Step 3: With the handle of the scraper, mix up the aquarium gravel, moving most to the rear of the fish tank. There should be a low spot in the front. After the fish waste is stirred up when the gravel is moved, it should naturally settle into this spot.
Step 4: Siphon or vacuum the fish waste from the area in the front of the tank. Vacuum approximately 1/3 of the fish tank water. Spread the gravel so it is evenly distributed throughout the bottom of the tank. Rearrange the plants and decorations in the tank.
Step 5: Refill your aquarium with fresh water treated with the proper amount of salt and chemicals. Use only as much salt and chemicals as are required for the amount of water you are adding. The water temperature should be almost the same temperature as the water currently in the aquarium.
Step 6: Use the towel to wipe the aquarium equipment. Reinstall the equipment in your aquarium and plug it in to ensure that it is working properly.
Step 7: Use a clean towel to wipe the outside of the aquarium.
