It is a sad but true fact that many people define us by our appearance. Our clothes, hair, cosmetics, and body shape leave others with either a positive or a negative impression. As we age, we need to concern ourselves with things like wrinkles and sagging. All is not lost because there are easy ways to look great at any age.
Step 1: Begin with the basics. Examine your nails, hair, and skin. Make sure nails are clean and trimmed. Females may want to get a manicure. If there are split ends in the hair or the hair style is out of date, get a haircut. Address skin blemishes and dry patches by using appropriate products.
Step 2: Take a wardrobe inventory. Go through the closet and put outdated clothing and shoes in a pile. Bag them up and take them to Goodwill or a thrift store. See what you are left with and purchase additional clothing items as necessary. If you have a nice pair of pants but nothing to pair them with, buy a matching shirt and shoes.
Step 3: Take an accessories inventory. Go through the jewelry pile and remove outdated, broken, or mateless pieces. Assess the accessories in terms of the wardrobe and make sure there is an adequate selection to match the clothing. If not, purchase some additional items, focusing on pieces that can be worn with a variety of clothing styles. This will save you money.
Step 4: Makeup for females. Go through the makeup supply and throw away unpopular colors or dried up items. Those who do not know how to apply their own makeup or do a poor job of it should look online for tips.
Step 5: Get fit. If you do not regularly exercise, incorporate some form of physical activity into the daily routine. You will look and feel better and make a better first impression.
