Flooring tiles made of rubber have both commercial and residential applications. They create ideal surfaces for weight rooms, martial arts studios, and other workout spaces. At home, they are perfect for basements and children’s play rooms. Rubber flooring tiles are also suitable for locker rooms, home offices, and special purpose areas such as anti-fatigue workstations.
Benefits of rubber tiles include shock absorption, durability, and low maintenance. The material will not become brittle or crack over time and the surface is slip-resistant and offers high traction. The material is almost odorless and is non-toxic and free of harmful lead. Many brands are made entirely from post-consumer or post-industrial rubber, keeping tires out of landfills. Several tile colors are available to complement different decors. Installation is fast and easy, enabling even a novice to create a tough, stable flooring surface in a short time. Since glue is not used during installation, rubber flooring tiles can be removed or replaced as needed
You will need:
Step 1: Begin in one corner of the room. Lay a chalk line to serve as a guide and install the first flooring tile against the wall.
Step 2: Once the first tile is in the desired place, insert a connector pin into each of the holes pre-drilled in the tile (three pins per side). The connector pins attach the flooring tiles to each other so they interlock securely.
Step 3: Continue the installation, working outward from the placed tile in both available directions. Place a second tile next to the first and insert the remaining portion of the nearby connector pins into the appropriate holes in the second tile. Push the tile into place so it fights tightly. Hit the second tile at an angle with the rubber mallet to close all gaps.
Step 4: Repeat this process in the second available direction from the initial tile.
Step 5: Continue in both directions until the floor is covered with rubber tiles.
Step 6: When reaching the edge of a wall and doorway casing, there may not be enough room for an entire floor tile. Measure a straight right angle on the relevant tile with the framing square and draw the lines with a pencil. Use a jamb saw to trim the tile along the marked lines and then install the tile as directed above.
