Cold weather has hit many areas, making the outdoors an unfriendly place for many people. Those who do not partake in winter sports like skiing or snowshoeing look for other ways to exercise. A gym membership can be expensive so consider these ways of exercising indoors without the need for any special equipment.
Step 1: Subscribe to cable channels that encourage working out, like FIT TV. These channels provide a large number of workouts at all times of day. If you have a DVR, record your favorite routines and use them whenever you need some exercise.
Step 2: Purchase workout DVDs at discount stores. You can find these for just about any type of exercise from yoga to strength training.
Step 3: Use your computer to find workout videos on sites like YouTube. Set up the computer in the workout room and follow along with the video. There are videos for nearly all types of workouts and many of them require only basic household equipment like a chair or table. Some require only your body, making them even easier to do in any room of the home.
Step 4: Rent exercise DVDs from a video rental store, Netflix, or your local library. This is a great way to expand your exercise routine without incurring a large expense.
Step 5: If you have a set of stairs within the home, you can burn calories and get a work out by continuously walking up and down for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Get a jump rope and jump for 15-minute intervals to burn calories.
Step 7: Try some DVD workouts for indoor walking routines. You will be surprised how much you are sweating by the time you are finished and you will have burned many calories.
Step 8: Go to iTunes and download fitness podcasts to your iPod.
Step 9: Borrow some workout DVD’s from a friend and set up a workout party in your home or take turns between your friends homes.
